Here we read articles by scholars who are attempting to understand mass incarceration and the numerous of ways the system impacts both men and women of color. Each week reading fell into a thematic category. Here are some of the themes we discussed; Women and Incarceration, Collateral impact, and Reform/Abolition. Additionally, we used Bell Hooks Pedagogy of Hope as the undercurrent for these sessions - as it helped to center the most important goal - Building community.
