I MEAN LOOK AT WHAT WE UP AGAINST (MAMIE TILLS MIRROR) 24X36 | ORIGINAL - acrylic based, newspaper, and graphite.
Artist Keshad Adeniyi paints a portrayal of a mirror that symbolizes Mamie Tills sentiment when she stated “Let the world see what they did to my boy.” From the artist perspective Mamies statement raised a mirror to America and its most brutal instruments for genocide in 1955 Mississippi. Keshad adds to this continuum by using newspaper clippings that chronicle the historical violence done on to the bodies of the oppressed since the inception of the American project.
