Artist Keshad Adeniyi paints a portrait of Assata Shakur, a Black liberation activist who came of age during the height of the Civil Rights, Black Power, and Anti-War movements. Shakur is widely recognized for her work with the Harlem chapter of the Black Panther Party, as well as her controversial conviction, escape from prison, and eventual political asylum in Cuba. This work not only offers a brief visual history of her path to liberation, but also pays homage to her sacrifice, resistance, and enduring contributions to the struggle for Black freedom.
